Head Coach: Jeff Walton
​
Coach Walton is beginning his 15th year as the Eagle head coach and his 28th year of teaching. Coach Walton is a native of Sabetha, KS. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education and English from Rockhurst University where he played basketball; he also has a Master's Degree in Education from Mid-America University. Some of his hobbies include spending time with his wife and three kids, working out, playing golf, and leading mission trips into Haiti every summer.

Coach Walton has taught in the Sports Med & Exercise Science Academy for the past five years; he previously served in the English classroom for 23 years (10 at Blue Valley High, three at Blue Valley West, and 10 at Olathe North).

Varsity Assistant: Matt Smith
​
Coach Smith is beginning his 21st year of coaching boys' basketball at Olathe North. He also coached baseball from 1998-2013 (2008-2013 as head coach). Coach Smith has a keen understanding of both offensive and defensive schemes and is particularly adept at in-game adjustments. The Eagles have benefited greatly because of his servant leadership and knowledge of the game.

Matt traveled from his hometown of Princeton, Illinois to be a Kansas Jayhawk where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Math Education. He earned his Master's Degree in School Leadership from Baker University. His hobbies include spending time with his wife and two kids, watching sports on tv, fishing, and reading.

Junior Varsity: Adam Olerich
​
Coach Olerich is beginning his 7th year on the Eagle staff. Adam also coaches football at Mission Trail where he teaches Physical Education; he has also taught and coached football at Frontier Trail Middle School. Adam's basketball coaching career has included stops at Shawnee Mission West and Olathe Northwest. Adam will be a great head coach in the coming years because of his passion for learning the game and commitment to making his athletes the best people they can be.
​
Coach Olerich earned a Bachelor's Degree from Mid-America Nazarene and a Master's Degree from Emporia State. Adam is an Olathe North alum, but his hometown is in Sioux City, Iowa. Adam enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, playing golf, reading books, and watching movies. He is also a legendary scorer on the infamous team BACON it RAIN.

Sophomore: Grady McWilliams

Coach McWilliams is beginning 6th year coaching basketball at North (five with boys and one with girls) and his 14th year as a math teacher. Coach earned his Bachelor's Degree from K-State and his Master's Degree in Technology Enhanced Education from Mid-America Nazarene University. Grady is a native of Kansas City, KS.
​
Coach believes in teaching young men how to play the game the right way as not only a teammate but also a man. In Coach's free time he enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball, learning, learning, and learning.

Freshman: Chris Scruggs

Coach Scruggs began his coaching career two years ago. Coach Scruggs, like Coach Olerich, is a former Eagle. He attended Central Christian University on a basketball scholarship and later transferred to the University of Kansas where he pursued a degree in Business Administration. Today, he enjoys playing with his son and exploring new restaurants.
​
Chris brings his gritty style of play to his coaching. He has been a part of the fabric of our community for most of his life, and he wants to bring the pride and identity of being an Eagle to our youngest Eagles.
